lao tzu…

this wise teacher from times gone by was so right when he said that, remaining soft and supple, gentle and yielding were the keys to living a life of harmony with flexibility.
an important lesson to remember for those of us who get on in years…getting rigid, and fixed in our age old ideas, mindsets and accepting ourselves ‘as too old to change our thinking and ways” are the surest ways to turn brittle and edgy.
the child within each one of us is ever present and still ready and playful…..i’m reminded of my several meetings with his holiness the dalai lama whose childlike energy, twinkling eyes and ever ready laughter and playful happy energy impacted me and continues to constantly remind me and inspire me of one of life’s most important lessons….
be childlike, remain playful and happy for no reason.
nature has plenty of examples – soft, gentle grass and plants, or rivers going with the flow around obstacles – to remind us that our mind and bodies need soft and gentle flexibility to survive.
lao tzu’s message is just as relevant today as it may have been thousands of years ago.
perhaps the wheel of life repeats itself and we have to remind ourselves in every time and age of life’s relevant messages.
i’m grateful to this sage and others for sharing their wisdom and light with those seekers who care to listen.

the western rim of the grand canyon

i have been travelling again.
this time to one of my all time favourite power spots on this planet – the grand canyon.
i came back to the canyon after 27 years.
much has changed in my world and in my on going life story since then.
as i looked down from the rim 4,000 feet below to the snaking valley of the colorado river i felt a sense of awe and wonder that makes this one of our planets truly empowering, inspiring and amazing natural wonders. a gorge of epic proportions with the millions of years of earths story etched into every layer that has been carved by the forces of erosion from water and wind.
it’s a humbling experience and quite a story and one that made me feel a sense of gratitude and peace to be alive and part of this planet.
more on this soon…..

you are what you say you are

i say i’m lucky and i am.
i was at a fundraiser last night and someone beside me had just finished telling me that when it came to winning anything in a raffle or anything else in life she, never won anything as she was not lucky! i responded by telling her that the opposite was true for me. i told her how lucky i was and how i always won something. when the winners were being called we came down to the final three prizes. she looked at me and announced loudly to others on our table that, “she says she’s lucky so we’re waiting for her to win something”….i smiled and gently told her that even if i did not win a prize, maybe that was lucky too. for i always am a winner in every situation.
well, guess what! the next ticket that was pulled out was my winning number!
i was holding ticket no 53. the number adds up to the number 8…… the number for infinity.
syncronistically – or what may be called a co incidence – the prize was a painting! it was as if the universe was supporting me and giving the signs….a painting for an artist. what an apt lucky gift i thought to myself! the lady beside me looked incredulously at me and said, “i take back what i said, you are indeed lucky.” i smiled inwardly and outwardly, and thanked the universe, for looking out for me. i told my friend on the table that it was time for her to stop repeating that she was not lucky…it was perhaps better to start believing that she was very lucky instead. i hope somehow something would have changed in her thinking and the events of last night will give her something to reflect on.
on my side…well, what more can i say. i can simply re-affirm that yes ! we are who we say we are. if we think we are lucky then we are and we’ll allow luck to come to us, but if we constantly keep on harping about how unlucky we are then we don’t even give ourselves a chance.
so be and remain positive in every situation. watch out for what you say about yourself. you are co creator of your reality and what you think and what you say with feelings and strong energy are powerful.
i ‘m very lucky and i feel very grateful for all my blessings in every moment of my life.

learning from the japanese….

i had the privelege of living and making a home in japan – in recent times – for almost 5 years…
while japanese courtesy and politeness are legendary, what has become even more significant is how they conduct themselves in times of crisis. the saying ” when the going is tough, the tough get going” certainly applies to the manner and behaviour in which the japanese have handled themselves post this recent earthquake and the disaster that followed. while the destruction and devastation of life and property have been enormous what has struck the world – as it watched the drama unfold – was the stoic dignity and discipline with which the japanese people managed themselves in the aftermath even as they faced all kinds of challenges and shortages of day to day essentials.
what really set them apart from the norm, was the distinct and unwritten honor code that is followed by the japanese as they went about their business of living and surviving even through the biggest challenge of their lives in recent history. respect for oneself and the community at large is a natural and accepted norm. self control and discipline are a given no matter what the situation may demand. no matter how dire the circumstances and how enormous the challenge to their person maybe, the japanese will put the other persons interest and the larger good before themself. they feel the pain and loss as much as anyone else anywhere in the world , but what sets these people apart is their tremendous personal dignity and self respect that then automatically is extended to all others around.
in times like these when the force of nature humbles even the strongest and mightiest, the human spirit comes forth to shine through all the suffering and pain. when all is said and done and while the process of recovery continues, what will be left on our minds -i hope – is the quiet strength and dignity which personifies the japanese people as a shining example to other cultures and people around the world.
there are and will be many lessons to learn for humanity from this catastrophe but none will be greater than the acts of cooperation, kindness and consideration for others that we have witnessesd in a time when they were most needed in a crisis of this magnitude.

‘being’ love….

love is not something that comes and goes…. it’s who we are.
so ‘be’ love.
remember that each one of us has enough love in our heart to heal yourself and the whole planet!

new script

i come here to this space where I can express what comes to me from my heart. i write part of my script – my ongoing story. i have no idea what turn this story will take or where it’s going. i’m only aware of what i’m feeling in the moment. and whatever i’m feeling n the moment is all that matters. i know i have the power to say it like i want, i am the writer, editor and creator of this current script. every day brings a new script, a new passage, a new process of growth.
i am my own wisdom keeper….
and mother earth is my inspiration, spirit guide and teacher.

inspiration – mt fuji

inspiration knocks at our doors when we allow it to enter – like breathing in – literally.
goals and ideas that are followed up and pursued with inspiration get accomplished easily and successfully – no matter how difficult the way to reach the end maybe – simply because there’s no room for negative vibrations of social conscious stress, nor is there any room for negative pushing.
inspired goals get fueled by inspired actions on a backdrop of higher exalted inspired feelings.
the human spirit is capable of anything when it’s inspired. you can climb a mountain and do the impossible when you allow yourself to ‘feel’ inspired.
i believe that when we allow ourself to vibrate in a higher feeling of inspiration, the appropriate and allotted actions and support – as in people, things – flow into our experience at the precise appointed moment to perform the necessary actions with ease and the natural flow of life.
we climb many mountains in our life and each ‘climb’ has one or many lessons to learn.
i climbed mt fuji for the second time yesterday.
it’s an inspiring mountain to climb and i am grateful to the ‘kamis’ of mt fuji for allowing and welcoming me – and my loved ones – back into their circle once again for an unforgettable experience and for revealing what ‘inspiration’ means to me.
connect to the flow of your life and allow and seek out the inspiration that is yours to connect to and see what your higher, jubilant expanded spirit is capable of achieving.

new moon – golden tiger

the dark night is once again behind us. magic and mysticism flow in with todays powerful new moon as it brings along – the year of the golden tiger!  symbols and signs inspire me and mark the beginning of good things.

so come along, take a leap of faith along with a deep breath, melt the barriers that limit, separate and restrict us and let’s celebrate and appreciate the gifts of this Universe.
