role of the media

in todays fast moving world of information and technology the media has a very significant and important role to play.
in my mind, it has a tremendous responsibilty to not only inform but more importantly i feel to educate the people in its audience. the media obviously makes a difference….. however, to play a positive and constructive role it has to recognize and accept it’s responsibility as a channel that imparts education, empowerment and awareness to the people whose lives are impacted by what they read and listen to everyday.
the role of this media is immensely powerful and it can be used constructively or destructively. the choice is there to be exercised by the people who represent it.
i believe that the media is also a reflection of the society it is trying to inform or educate. it does not stand separated or above the people it connects to, especially since we’re all interconnected. if anything, it is a mirror of the society it reaches out to. so, all the more reason for this ‘voice’ of the people to be a responsible and positive one.
if everything is in a state of flux everywhere in the world, then perhaps it’s time for the media also to change its track to one where it sees itself as an instrument of constructive change in society. i’m reminded of gandhi’s famous quote where he said that, ‘be the change you want to see around you’.
well, in that case, the tone is set and the media should be the change it wants to see in societies all around.
if it’s primary objective is to project images and tell a story, then it’s time to move away from sensational gimmicks, chatty tongue in cheek remarks and provocative implications that are simply a ploy perhaps to gain attention, higher viewer audiences and be no. one! it’s time to be different and it’s time to make a real difference in our world. it’s time for the media to show the people another better way to promote well being, peace and harmony all around. negative news is not the only news available…there’s plenty of positive stuff happening around the world that can and should be focussed on. lets not forget that whatever we give our attention and focus to grows in size and energy. while there’s enough happening around us that we wish to turn away from, still there’s much more happening that is positive and inspiring that we would like to turn our attention to. it’s time then that the media makes a choice to be a tool of constructive positive change and if it truly reflects the voice of the people then let it portray the facts as they are without sensationalising them and take on a more active role to be a source of education, well being and empowerment rather than a voice that makes a lot of us turn away in despair from it.
it’s time for all of us to walk our talk.

2011 and Beyond

Born in the Himalayas, Mrinalini has lived and traveled widely across the earth.

She has been exhibiting her artistic work in exhibitions in India, Switzerland, Colombia, Indonesia and Japan since 1992. She feels her creative expression is not an end in itself, but simply a journey and process that helps her to gain a better understanding of life as it evolves and her place in it as a cosmic being.

Mrinalini’s flowers and abstracts represent the eternal cycle of life, in which she believes that everything and everyone is interconnected. Her current work in progress reflects the dawning of an accelerated shift in human consciousness as it emerges from the shadows of two thousand years of the Piscean age and moves into the light of the Golden Age of Aquarius more …

2011

let me wish you a year of infinite success and happiness, good health and positive energy, creativity, motivation, peace and inspiration.
i rejoice in other peoples success and happiness as it adds to my own measure of endless possibilities.
i wish for you what i wish for myself and more…conscious that what i give to you i’ll get back in even bigger measure. life responds to what we feel and give out in every way.
there’s no lack or limit to all the abundance of anything that’s available to us.
as i transition through this period from one country to another, one chapter to another i open my book of  life to a page where i’m ready and aware of being at another crossroad. i choose the path of reinventing myself to create a life that i enjoy and am in harmony with no matter what.
i’ve understood that it’s not what we see or what is but how we choose to see and perceive the so called reality of anything.
wishing you days of joyful abundance.

‘nocebo’ affect…

a ‘nocebo’ affect is a negative belief that can harm us and kill us, in as much as a ‘placebo’ one can heal us and cure us.
the healing lies in our mind, in our thought process and belief about how we are and how we feel about our body, and the ailment we think we may have.
the function of our mind is to create coherent beliefs in the so called reality that we experience and then to go onand  manifest what we believe and what is our dominant thought pattern.
you change your thoughts,
you change your mind…
you change the way you think,
you change the way you are….
you change your beliefs,
you can stretch your mind and you can heal your body.
you are your own healer with your own beliefs and thought patterns.

Age factor

i feel a time will come – very soon - in the near future when our perceptions and beliefs about age will change forever!
in my own lifetime i have seen how my own ideas about ‘growing older’ have changed so radically.
i no longer set a ceiling on how long i or any other human being can live. we r living in a quantum age and are victims of a limited way of thinking. our beliefs about how we look at any age or growing old are nothing but habitual set patterns of thinking that we came to believe as truths! we programed our body to being this way. all that’s required now to change this way of being is a different program and belief system.
limited beliefs with conditioned and set minsets about how old we are at any given time and how we should or should not be are hardly conducive to evolved or heightened ways of being.
for me age is as old as one feels. I know that we are approaching an ‘age’ where life expectancy will increase amazingly. people will live hundreds of years and we will be as old as we feel.

we are the attractors and creators of every experience and circumstance in our life – simply by what we think, ponder, reflect, wonder, observe, remember, consider and imagine.

sacred space

a sacred space is a place where we enter our quiet inner world where we feel safe, secure and allow healing to take place. it does not necessarily have to be found in temples, cathedrals or places of religious worship.  earth abounds with beautiful nature spots where we feel our oneness with everything around us and we sense the higher power and our sensitive vulnerability that is within each one of us.
you don’t have to go somewhere to find this sacred space. one prayer from the heart is enough to take us to this place of inner peace and harmony that connects us to all the four directions and also what is above and below.
native indigenous people, seers, seekers and shamans
have been able through the ages to invoke and open these sacred spaces through simple prayer.
much of our fear and pain comes from the feeling that the world is an unsafe place to be in and our perception of being threatened. this threat perception of living in a dangerous world rasies our defenses and our guard is up. our sacred space gives us a place where we can lower our defenses and be true to ourselves and our nature.

blame game

we human beings find some comfort from the frustration we feel when things don’t go according to our expectation by pinning the blame on someone or something. the ongoing crisis over the oil spill in the gulf of mexico seems to me to be one such example. the fact of the matter is that we have a problem on our hands and once again - our common home - earth is giving us a reminder of another big lesson we need to learn from. however, at the moment we’re still too busy about who to peg the blame on and who will pay – as if that is any solution. precious time is being lost and the costs of damage done to our environment and much else are mounting with every passing moment. what seems obvious to me is that once again our greed got the better of us and now here is another opportunity for everyone to put their heads together to find a solution rather than focussing our energy and resources on who to blame. lessons abound in the ongoing situation, if only we’re willing to open our minds and heart to acknowledging and accepting them. earth is our common home and she’s givng us enough signs to treat ourselves and our home we  live on with love, co – operation, respect and harmony.  are we….?

smelling the pansies

i know now that after all that is said and done…..and all the earth shaking, breath taking, fast moving, teeth chattering, adrenaline flowing  adventures are behind us, we go back to where we started from.  what is truly meaningful in life revolves around the mundane day to day simple stuff that makes up the backbone of our lives. ‘one chops wood before climbing mt. everest and one chops wood after’……life is a full circle.
spring may be here with cherry blossoms at every turn, but winter lingers on a little longer as these sturdy feisty pansies still grace my balcony with color, joy and divine fragrance.  i’m grateful i could stop and smell them whenever i wanted….my beautiful indigo winter companions have inspired many moments in my studio and lifted my spirits on a grey cloudy day.
