as i look out at the calm still waters of the ocean off the coast of kawana, i’m reminded of the idea of shifting perspectives and related realities. there’s more to life that we don’t actually see than we do. what we see is really the illusion and the unseen depths of the ocean or infinite space are the reality.
am off to chase some golf balls on that happy thought.
wishing you a happy day too.
i learnt some years ago to see my glass as half full…..
life is a mixed bag with many interesting choices.
we may not like to see our life in a way that we actually set ouselves up with the people and circumstances we have chosen around us to experience whatever we do for some reason, growth and lesson to learn. ‘the silver lining on the cloud’ or the ‘blessing in disguise’ often eludes us because we get so lost in the immediate drama, that we miss seeing the forest and only see the trees.
no matter what our story maybe a shift in perspective is all that’s required to change the story and see the glass half full.
i like to think of myself as a sifter – someone who’s able to sift through the chaff and keep only that which is truly positive and useful for me at any given moment and letting go of the rest.
i feel as an artist i’m walking the tide line like a beachcomber, picking up things washed ashore….some small stray thing tells me a story that i pick up and i want to tell that little story in my own way. who knows what the meanderings of a heart are…. i simply listen to its call and try to express what i feel in the way i’m able to with an inner play of ideas.
there’s a struggle and a joy in expressing what the heart feels and the mind connects to.
the result of this process is my art.
“nothing is so perfectly amusing as a total change of ideas.”
– Laurence Sterne
it’s so true! when we reverse any thought with it’s opposite fresh perspective the balance comes in. it’s like being on a mountain trail and you feel ‘i’m so tired’ and you reverse it with ‘i’m full of energy’ and it makes you go on further. switchbacks and reversed thoughts provide creative balance.
